OREM, Utah – UVU's volleyball team pulled away victorious in a big conference win against CSU Bakersfield in four sets on Thursday night, 3-1 (25-19, 25-23, 25-18, 25-22).
Sets one, three and four belong to the Wolverines as the team garnered a .276 hitting average and senior middleblocker
Makaila Jarema tallied 10 kills for a monster .421 attack percentage while
Bailey Christensen posted 15 kills for her new career record as a Wolverine.
In set one Utah Valley came out on top (25-19) and posted 16 kills in the opening contest. Christensen led the Wolverines with seven kills at the net for an even .700 hitting average. Utah Valley also gathered two blocks and a 78% side-out average against CSU Bakersfield to start on top.
Set three was headlined by
Kaili Downs and Jarema, both grabbing four kills and the Wolverines tallied 14 kills as a team in the third. UVU added two more blocks, three total for Jarema through three sets.
In the final set of the evening, Jarema posted two more kills, Christensen with three, and Downs with four more. UVU moves to 6-5 in WAC play and faces only one more home contest in the regular season against GCU.
The Wolverines and the Lopes will face off on Saturday, November 2 at 1pm as UVU will also honor five seniors before the matchup.
