OREM, Utah - Five seniors were honored on Saturday in the Lockhart Arena as the Wolverines took on the Lopes of Grand Canyon in the final regular-season home game, 0-3 (25-22, 25-23, 26-24).
UVU suffered a three set loss to GCU despite an almost even battle in kills and digs. Utah Valley tallied 42 total kills and 42 digs while GCU grabbed 48 kills and 50 digs on the day.
Kazna Tarawhiti led the Wolverines with another double-digit mark in kills with 14. She averaged a .300 hitting percentage and also held the backline with eight digs. Seniors
Jasmine Niutupuivaha and
Megan Childs both posted seven kills, Niutupuivaha added a block and Childs snagged three. Niutupuivaha averaged a .375 hitting percentage and Childs marked a .429 average.
Jaysa Funk Stratton tallied three service aces in the match, the most out of both teams.
UVU and GCU went point-for-point in all three sets with 10 lead changes and 16 tie scores in the 14 point overall difference. As a team, Utah Valley collected six blocks and a .216 attack average overall and moves to a 6-6 conference record.

Madi Wardle,
Makaila Jarema, Niutupuivaha and Childs were all honored as seniors for the Wolverines. Christensen closed the day with five kills and four digs, Wardle posted 20 assists and Jarema tallied five kills and five blocks at the net.
UVU closes out the regular season on the road with upcoming contests at Kansas City and Chicago State, ending the conference season with matchups at Seattle U and Cal Baptist.
Following the regular season competition, the Wolverines will look to host their first WAC conference tournament in Orem, November 21-23. More information on the upcoming WAC volleyball tournament will be posted to UVU's athletic website within the next week.
