UTAH VALLEY HOSTS WAC FOES NM STATE, CALIFORNIA BAPTIST THIS WEEK AT CLYDE FIELD
Utah Valley opens WAC home play this week as the team hosts New Mexico State on Thursday and California Baptist on Saturday at Clyde Field. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively.
The Wolverines have won two of their last matches and recently had a three-match unbeaten streak come to an end. The team opened WAC play on Sunday with a 3-2 setback at CSU Bakersfield. Two late goals by Jenna Shepherd weren't enough as the Wolverines fell just short, 3-2, in the WAC opener. The Wolverines trailed three-nil with less than six minutes remaining in regulation when Shepherd scored both goal in a span of less than two minutes. Cassidy McCormick assisted on the first goal, in the 85th minute, and then Shepherd picked up the brace in the 87th minute. Shepherd has scored all three of her goals on the season in the last two games.
Carter leads the team with six goals and 12 points this season. Carter leads the team with 24 shots, including a team-best 19 on frame. She also fronts the team with four game winners. Amber Tripp and Shepherd each have three goals, while Jocelyn Bybee, Breanna DeWaal, and Heather Stainbrook each have one. Allie Jara leads the team in the box with 945 minutes played. She has a team-best 38 saves and holds a .731 save percentage. She also holds a 1.33 goals allowed per game average. The keeper has two shutouts this year.Â
CARTER LEADS THE NATION IN SHOT ACCURACY, SIXTH IN GAME WINNERS
Utah Valley sophomore forward Julianna Carter leads the entire nation in shot accuracy with a .792 mark. She also ranks sixth in the country with four game-winning goals. She also ranks 86th nationally in shots on goal per game (1.56) and 87th in the nation in total goals (6). UVU keeper Allie Jara ranks 35th in the nation in saves per game.
CLYDE FIELD MAGIC, UVU RANKS 11TH NATIONALLY IN ATTENDANCE
Utah Valley holds an impressive 78-38-11 all time record at Clyde Field. The team has lost just seven matches over the past five seasons on the home pitch. UVU suffered its first losing record at home in 2018, going 3-4-1. UVU went 5-1-0 in 2017, 5-2-1 during the 2016 season and were unbeaten at home during the 2015 season with a 9-0-1 mark. The Wolverines are a 4-1-1 at home this season. UVU ranks 11th in the nation in attendance this season as the Wolverines average 1,309 fans per game at Clyde Field.
ABOUT NEW MEXICO STATE
New Mexico State enters Thursday night's match against the Wolverines with a 1-9-2 overall record and a 0-2-0 mark in WAC play. The Aggies lone victory was a 2-1 victory against Idaho State. NM State dropped a pair of games last week at home to open WAC play, falling 2-1 to Grand Canyon before dropping a 1-0 decision to California Baptist. Junior forward Shea O'Connor leads the team with three goals, while sophomore midfielder Alexa Barrera and sophomore forward Corey Kizer each have two. Junior keeper Dmitri Fong leads the team in the box having logged 1084 minutes. She holds a .765 save percentage and has 78 saves on the season. Â

Utah Valley and New Mexico State will meet up on the pitch for the ninth time on Thursday night. Utah Valley has never dropped a game to the Aggies as the team holds a 6-0-2 all-time series lead. UVU is 2-0-1 against NM State all-time in games played in Orem. UVU defeated the Aggies 5-2 in the two team's last meeting at Clyde Field. The Wolverines defeated NM State, 3-0, last season in Las Cruces.Â

California Baptist heads into the week with an impressive 9-2-1 overall record and a perfect 2-0-0 record in WAC play. The team's only two blemishes of the season are a 2-0 loss to UNLV and a 2-1 setback at Saint Mary's. The Lancers opened WAC play last week with a pair of road wins, defeating CSU Bakersfield 3-1 before downing New Mexico State, 1-0. Rola Badawlya leads the team in scoring with seven goals this season, followed by Amy Aquino with four and Ari Coronado with three.Â

Utah Valley and California Baptist meet up on the pitch for just the third time on Saturday night. The series is even at one match apiece. UVU defeated the Lancers 3-1 in the two team's lone meeting in Orem on Sept. 10, 2005. CBU defeated UVU last season in California, 1-0.Â
