UVU welcomes Nevada to UCCU Center Saturday

OPENING TIP
  • Utah Valley University hosts Nevada of the Mountain West Conference on Saturday at 2 p.m. MT  in the UCCU Center to wrap a two-game homestand.
  • Saturday's game is the second in a stretch of five of the next seven games at home for the Wolverines (0-2). 
  • Utah Valley dropped its home opener last Saturday to in-state foe Southern Utah, 71-58, in Lockhart Arena. 
  • The Wolverine suffered through a scoring drought in the opening half that resulted in too big of a deficit to come back from.
  • Alexis Cortez, who leads UVU with an average of 14.5 points through two games, led the Wolverines with 16 while Jordan Holland added 13. 
  • Saturday's contest is the first between UVU and Nevada since 2015, a 73-65 Wolverine win in Reno, Nevada.
     
ABOUT THE WOLF PACK
Nevada has opened the season with home wins over Saint Mary's and Sacramento State. In an 83-72 win over Sac State last Saturday, the Wolf Pack trailed by three at the half before outscoring the Hornets by 16 in the second half. Essence Booker scored 21 to lead the way and is averaging 19.0 ppg so far this season, nearly 14 points above her average from her freshman season in 2018-19. Utah Valley and Nevada have split four games all-time between the schools. 

COMING UP
Utah Valley will hit the road for its next two contests, beginning with UC Riverside on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 8:30 p.m. MT. The Wolverines also travel to Mountain West champion Boise State for a game on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
