OPENING TIP
- The 2019-20 Utah Valley University women's basketball host Southern Utah in its home opener on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 4 p.m. MT in Lockhart Arena.
- Saturday's game begins a stretch of five of the next seven games at home for the Wolverines.
- SUU is one of four in-state programs that Utah Valley will face this season. UVU also hosts Utah State (Dec. 21) and plays road contests at BYU (Dec. 14) and at Weber State (Dec. 17).
- Utah Valley dropped its season opener on Tuesday afternoon at UC Santa Barbara, 59-51.
- The Wolverines fell behind early and trailed by 14 at the half before getting to within a point in the fourth quarter, but ultimately fell to the Gauchos.
- Eve Braslis led UVU with 16 points, the second straight season she's led the Wolverines in scoring in the season opener. Alexis Cortez added 13 points and two blocks.
- Josie Williams pulled down nine rebounds and Jordan Holland had seven as Utah Valley out-rebounded UCSB, 46-38.
ABOUT THE T-BIRDS
Southern Utah opened its season on Thursday afternoon with a 79-63 win over Cal State Fullerton at home. The T-Birds (1-0) got 20 points from freshman Madelyn Eaton with five players total scoring in double figures. SUU finished 8-22 last season and was picked to finish 10th in the Big Sky Conference. UVU trails the all-time series, 14-7, against Southern Utah with the T-Birds coming from behind to win 60-59 last season in Cedar City.
