KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Utah Valley University dropped a Saturday afternoon tilt at the University of Missouri Kansas City, 97-64, in the Swinney Recreation Center. The loss drops the Wolverines (14-12, 8-5) into a current tie with the Kangaroos (14-12, 8-5) for fourth in the WAC standings.
Eve Braslis finished with 12 points while
Alexis Cortez and
Jordan Holland each scored 11. Holland also grabbed 10 rebounds to notch a double-double, but UVU was out-rebounded 53-29. Leilah Vigil had a monster game on the glass with 21 rebounds while also scoring 14 points for UMKC. The Kangaroos also got a game-high 25 from Emily Ivory including seven made 3-pointers, and Ericka Mattingly finished with 21 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds.
UMKC never trailed in the game and used a 9-0 run to end the first and start the second quarter to build a 23-12 lead. After the lead swelled to 13, the Wolverines trimmed it to seven on three straight Holland buckets. UMKC answered with 12 straight points over the next three minutes to take a 39-20 lead.

UMKC pulled away in the third quarter behind a 20-4 run over the first five minutes of the third. The Roos swept the regular season series and now own the head-to-head tiebreaker against UVU.
The Wolverines return home next weekend for the final home game of the regular season on Saturday, March 2 at 3 p.m. against California Baptist.
