MISSOULA, Montana – Utah Valley brings back a victory from the final game of a three-part series against Montana this weekend. The Wolverines gathered a handful of runs in the first three innings to maintain a sizeable lead, ending on top of the Grizzlies, 12-8.
"Today was a great win for us," comments senior outfielder,
Brianna Moeller. "We learned from yesterday and came out with a different mindset. Our approaches at the plate were great and our defense was spot on."
Moeller led the Wolverines at a perfect 4-for-4 and a double on the afternoon.
Linnah Rebolledo led Utah Valley with three RBI's, while teammates
Berlyn Carreon and
Karleigh Olsen added a pair of RBI's each.
Lyndsay Steverson produced two doubles, one in the top of the first, that was the first run scored from
Abby Doughty. Steverson went 3-for-4 in the victory over the Grizzlies.
Steverson reflects on the day, "We came out today with focus, energy and intention. As a team we needed to score runs and had each other's backs through every inning."
UVU began with a big lead over UM, adding six runs in the first inning (6-0), two more in the second (8-5) and four in the third (12-7).
Devyn Cretz takes the win for Utah Valley. Cretz now sits at a 5-4 record on the season.
The Wolverines now look to take on a doubleheader against Idaho State in a day-trip to Pocatello, Idaho. Following that, UVU will compete in their first conference games against Grand Canyon University, March 22-23.
