PHOENIX, Arizona - A total of three Utah Valley University softball players earned 2019 All-Western Athletic Conference softball honors on Tuesday evening at the pre-tournament banquet on the campus of Grand Canyon University.

The Wolverines took home three respective awards, as freshman Abby Doughty and senior Brianna Moeller were named to the All-WAC First Team and teammate Lyndsay Steverson was tabbed to the All-WAC Second Team.

Moeller and Steverson found themselves in the second consecutive season receiving All-WAC recognition.

"We are so proud of these young ladies and so honored to have them in our program at UVU," comments head coach TJ Hubbard. "These three have repeatedly found ways to contribute each weekend to their team and winning. They have selflessly led this group all season and we are excited to watch each of them compete on the heels of these honors this week in Phoenix."

Doughty, a freshman from Vail, Arizona, earns a spot on first team after leading UVU as the top Wolverine in the WAC, posting a .333 batting average with 21 RBIs, 41 hits, seven home runs and four doubles in the 2019 regular-season as well as being honors as the WAC Hitter of the Week earlier in the year.

Senior centerfielder Moeller posted a .331 batting average with 26 RBIs, six home runs, a pair of triples and 48 hits overall to claim a member spot on the All-WAC First Team. Moeller earned this honor on the heels of earning first team all-conference accolades a season ago.

Steverson was awarded Second Team All-WAC for her performance this season, which included a monster 35 RBIs, 10 home runs, nine doubles and a .321 batting average. Steverson also collects this award following her first team all-conference accolades a season ago.

Utah Valley faces their first competition, Wednesday at 3:30pm MT against No. 5 seed Kansas City in the first game of the tournament. The winner will get either top seed Seattle U or No. 2 seed New Mexico State on Thursday depending on the result of Wednesday's second game. The losing team would move into a must-win contest on Thursday night.
