Cathy Nixon inducted into Duncanville HS Hall of Fame

DUNCANVILLE, Texas – Utah Valley University Senior Associate Athletic Director, Cathy Nixon, was honored with an induction into the Duncanville High School Hall of Fame in Duncanville, Texas over the weekend.

Nixon earned All-State honors four times during her prep basketball career and led her team to the state finals twice. She was named a high school All-American during both her junior and senior seasons. Nixon played at Duncanville from 1980-84 for legendary coach, the late Sandra Meadows, who led the school to four state titles during her tenure and is enshrined in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.

'I'm humbled and honored to be recognized by Duncanville High School," Nixon said. "I have so many fond memories of my teammates and coaches and playing for Coach Meadows was such a privilege. Being a Duncanville Pantherette shaped who I became of the rest of my career as both a player and a coach."

Nixon recently transitioned to her new role in athletic administration at UVU after 24 seasons as the head coach of the Wolverine women's basketball program. She led the Wolverines to 380 wins during her career. Nixon's teams also twice achieved the No. 1 spot in the nation in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Academic Top 25.

A 1989 graduate of Brigham Young University, Nixon was a two-time All-American for the Cougars and ranks sixth all-time at the school with 1,771 points scored. Her college career for BYU also resulted in a 2007 Hall of Fame induction.
