LOGAN, Utah - The Utah Valley volleyball team traveled north to face the Aggies of Utah State, as UVU took the contest over Utah State, 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-17).
Utah State jumped out to a lead over Utah Valley in the first set, 4-10, but a trio of kills from
Bailey Christensen and a string of attack errors on the Aggies brought UVU back in front, 11-10. UVU continued with the lead, expanding it in the middle of the first to 20-14.
Jasmine Niutupuivaha added a pair of kills at the end for a Wolverine win in the first set, 25-22.
In set two, the Wolverines and the Aggies went point-for-point as the two teams found themselves tied 8-8 to begin the second. UVU eventually controlled the lead as Christensen added five more kills to the scoreboard to pull away from Utah State, 22-16. A final kill down the line from
Tori Dorius sealed set two for the Wolverines, 25-17.
Utah Valley would control the entirety of the third and final set, jumping out to a 10-2 lead over Utah State. Dorius tallied five more kills at the net for the Wolverines, followed by
Kaili Downs and Niutupuivaha to down the Aggies at another 25-17 finish.
Christensen led the Wolverines over the Aggies with 10 total kills, followed by Dorius wth eight kills to total a .235% average. As a team, UVU out-scored Utah State in kills, 41-22 and 45-34 in digs.
The Wolverines are back in action tomorrow night, Thursday, September 19 against Weber State in Lockhart Arena at 6pm MT.
