OREM, Utah - Utah Valley closed out the La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Invitational with a matchup against Utah ((21-25, 20-15, 18-25) and add a pair of Wolverines to the all-tournament team.
In set one, UVU and Utah battled point-for-point to a 20-20 tie before Utah pulled away in a four-point run to top the Wolverines, 21-25.
Bailey Christensen and
Sadie Hamson led the set for Utah Valley with a pair of kills a piece while teammate
Megan Childs tallied three blocks against the Utah frontline.
Set two proved a close matchup as well, as Utah Valley and Utah kept an even pace of points to 9-10. The Utes slowly pulled away through the remainder of the set, holding the lead over the Wolverines to take the set, 20-25.
Tori Dorius and
Kaili Downs kept Utah Valley in the game at the net with 6 kills between the two.
Utah made their move against Utah Valley in the third set, again holding a consistent lead over UVU from the start.
Kazna Tarawhiti and Christensen both counted in four kills from the outside, but would prove not enough over the Utes, dropping the final set, 18-25.
Jasmine Niutupuivaha and Christensen led Utah Valley against Utah with five blocks while Childs added four. The Wolverines ended the match out-blocking Utah, 8-4. Christensen also collected seven kills in the night cap.
