Maas announces signing of Portland transfer Easton Embley

OREM, Utah – Utah Valley University soccer coach Greg Maas has announced the signing of University of Portland transfer and Utah native Easton Embley. He's a midfielder from Layton, Utah, and will be a junior for the Wolverines this spring.

"Easton is a highly respected and accomplished player, and he'll lend tremendous experience and leadership to our program from the onset," Maas said. "In 2015, he captained our Utah '99 ODP team that won the US Youth ODP National Championship, so I couldn't be more excited for Easton's return to Utah and the opportunity for him to finish his collegiate career on Clyde Field in front of family and friends."

He made 16 appearances over two seasons with the Pilots and was part of a team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2018.

Joining Embley on the 2015 ODP National Championship team were current UVU teammates Aaron Nixon and Sam Hess. It remains the only Utah team to win an ODP National Championship. He was also named to the Best XI at the ODP Nationals, as well as the "Man of the Match" at the 2015 ODP Interregional and to the Region IV Top 18 and the ODP Interregional Top XI.

Embley prepped at Layton High School and helped lead the Lancers to a 2017 Utah 5A State Championship and was twice named All-State. Embley was also a member of a La Roca FC state championship team at the club level.
