GREELEY, Colo. – A six-run fourth inning was the difference as Northern Colorado topped Utah Valley University, 7-1, on Saturday afternoon at Gloria Rodriguez Field.
The Wolverines (12-6) scored first in the top of the first when
Siena Sandoval singled home
Madison Carr, who led off the game with a walk. The Bears (9-15) added one in the third before the decisive fourth inning.
Sandoval was 2-for-3 to lead Utah Valley, while Mady Young was 3-for-4 with a double, triple and four runs batted in. Young drove in the game-tying run in the third inning and then, with the Bears up 4-1 in the fourth, hit a bases-clearing three-run double to extend it to 7-1.
The Wolverines will close out the weekend on Sunday with an 11 a.m. MT first pitch against Northern Iowa.
