OREM, Utah -- Utah Valley University begins home WAC play this weekend with games against Seattle Univeristy on Friday and Saturday in the UCCU Center. Both games will tip at 5:30 p.m. MT and can be seen live on the WAC Digital Network.
The Wolverines (2-3, 0-2) and Redhawks (4-5, 0-0) will face one another for the first time since March 11, 2020, in the WAC Tournament in what turned out to be the final game played that season before the pandemic canceled the rest of the WAC and NCAA Tournaments.
UVU opened conference play and dropped both ends of its series at California Baptist last weekend. In the opener, the Lancers ran out to a 36-8 lead after one quarter en route to a 98-69 win. Saturday's result was in doubt until the final minutes, with CBU holding off the Wolverines to secure a 62-53 victory.
On Saturday, Josie Williams and Maria Carvalho both had 14 points to lead all scorers while Nehaa Sohail had 12 points and 11 rebounds. On Friday, Williams finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Madison Grange matched her career-high with 12 points.
Next week, the Wolverines have a bye in WAC play, with the next games on the schedule set for Jan. 29-30 at Tarleton.
