"We didn't get off to a great start today and that set us back a bit from where we wanted to be. The girls played tough at the end, however, to grind out some birdies. A super solid round by Leighton helped our final team score," head UVU coach Juli Erekson said. "She played very steady today with minimal mistakes and a great short game. She strikes the ball really well and her focus toady on getting in position for scoring was great!

"I'm very pleased with top-three finish for the team and the top-five, top-20, and top-35 performances for our top-four finishers!"

Sophomore Lauren Taylor also had a strong outing at the event by tying for 34th with a 13-over-par 229. Taylor recorded scores of 78, 74 and 77 on her way to finishing in the top-35. Fellow sophomore Macy Robertson Murphy rounded out UVU's field of five for the event by tying for 86th with a 241 (83-76-82). Playing the tournament as an individual, sophomore Caylyn Ponich tied for 77th with a 239 (80-78-81).

Behind a final round 68, Seattle U's Rivekka Jumagulova claimed medalist honors after winning the event with a 5-under-par 211 (70-73-68).

The Wolverines will next head to Boulder City, Nev., to close their fall season at Northern Arizona's Clash at Boulder Creek on Oct. 24-26. The three-day event will be contested at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
