OREM – Utah Valley hosts Chicago State for the final regular season matchup, before the Cougars leave the WAC after this season, on Saturday, Oct. 30. Saturday's match is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. MT. in Lockhart Arena and will be broadcasted on ESPN+. This marks the 30th matchup between Chicago State and Utah Valley on the volleyball court. The Wolverines hold a 27-2 record in the series, including a win in the previous matchup this season, 3-1, on the road in Chicago, Ill.
Chicago State is from Chicago, Ill., and calls the Western Athletic Conference home. CSU is 14-7 this season, including a 6-3 record in WAC play. The Cougars went 1-9 last season, including a trip to the WAC Volleyball Tournament semifinals.
Utah Valley was unable to complete the comeback as the Wolverines dropped its first-ever matchup with WAC-newcomer Stephen F. Austin, 3-1 (21-25, 25-18, 17-25, 23-25). The loss snaps UVU's five-match win streak. Utah Valley dropped a tightly-contested match with WAC-newcomer Sam Houston, 3-0 (20-25, 24-26, 21-25).
Senior outside hitter Kazna Tanuvasa surpassed Jessica Endres for third all-time in kills in UVU history in a thrilling five-set win over WAC-foe Seattle U. Tanuvasa finished the match with 20 kills, bringing her career total to 1418, passing Endres' 1401 career kills. Tanuvasa now needs 103 kills to climb into second in the records, and to pass Camie Manwill's total of 1520, and 183 kills to pass Kayli Doxey for the most all-time.
Senior outside hitter Kazna Tanuvasa is currently third in UVU history in career kills (1487), needing 34 to pass Camie Manwill for second all-time. Tanuvasa also ranks third in career attacks (3919) and fourth in career points (1666). Senior outside hitter Kristen Bell currently ranks seventh in career points (1154.5), sixth in kills (976), fifth in career attacks (3063), eighth in solo blocks (22), and 10th in aces (71). Abbie Miller now currently ranks eighth in career assists with 758 assists.
