SEATTLE, Wash. –Â
Kazna Tanuvasa surpassed Jessica Endres for third all-time for kills in UVU history as Utah Valley rallied to defeat WAC-foe Seattle U, 3-2 (25-13, 20-25, 21-25, 25-22, 15-8) on the road at Redhawk Center. With the win, the Wolverines improve to 7-8 on the season, including 2-2 in the WAC. The Redhawks fall to 3-12 on the year and 0-4 in conference play.
Tanuvasa, a senior from Lehi, Utah, finished the match with 20 kills, bringing her career total to 1418, passing Endres' 1401 career kills. Tanuvasa now needs 103 kills to climb into second in the records, and to pass Camie Manwill's total of 1520, and 183 kills to pass Kayli Doxey for the most all-time.
Kendra Nock and
Abbie Miller got the Wolverines off to a quick start as UVU opened up a 10-4 advantage in the opening set. Seattle U scored three-straight points to cut the lead down but
Kristen Bell led Utah Valley on a 4-1 run to push the lead back out to 14-8. After a push from the Redhawks, the Wolverines ended the set on a 10-2 run to take the first set, 25-13.

SU got off to a quick start in the second set, taking an early 5-9 lead. After a pair of points by UVU, Seattle U extend its lead to 13-9. Bell scored four-straight points as the Wolverines rallied to retake the lead, 14-13, but the Redhawks countered with a 5-2 run to go back up, 18-16. After both teams went back and forth, SU scored the final four points of the set to take the second set, 25-20, tying the match up at 1-1.

Seattle U again got off to a fast start in the third set as the Redhawks took an 11-6 lead. Tanuvasa helped Utah Valley chip away at the deficit, trimming the lead down to 16-14. Â SU took advantage of the set, using an 8-3 run to extend the lead to 24-17. UVU tried to fight back, scoring four-straight points before finally falling, 25-21, giving Seattle U a 2-1 lead.

Both teams went back and forth to start the fourth set, battling to a 6-6 tie early in the set. After SU took the lead by two points, the Wolverines ripped off an 8-1 run to take the lead, 15-10. The Redhawks clawed back into the set, using a 9-5 surge to cut the lead down to 20-19.
Jules Fink and Tanuvasa helped Utah Valley hold onto it lead as UVU took the fourth set, 25-22, sending the match to a final set.

Tanuvasa took over in the deciding set, leading the Wolverines to a quick 8-3 advantage. UVU scored four-straight points to push its lead to 12-4 before coasting to the set win. Tanuvasa punctuated the comeback, scoring the final point to give the Wolverines a 15-8 win.

Tanuvasa led the Wolverines with 20 kills on .368 hitting to go along with eight digs and three blocks. Bell added 15 kills and six digs and Fink chipped in nine kills and
Sadie Hamson led UVU with five blocks. Miller finished with 29 assists to go along with four digs and a pair of aces and
Natalie Palmer added a double-double with 16 assists, 10 digs, and a career-high four kills.
Bryton Bishop led UVU with 17 digs and tallied six assists and a pair of aces. Â
The Wolverines continue WAC play as Utah Valley hits the road to take on California Baptist on Saturday, Oct. 9, at 1:00 p.m. MT. The Wolverines then continue on the road, traveling to Dixie State on Thursday, Oct. 14 before returning home to host the Trailblazers on in Lockhart Arena on Saturday, Oct. 16.
