CEDAR CITY, Utah – Utah Valley University freshman
Elizabeth Zwahlen helped lead the UVU women's cross country team to victory on Saturday at the SUU Color Country Invitational at Cedar Ridge Golf Course on Cedar City by posting a bronze finish in the 4K race.

The Wolverine freshman placed third overall in the women's 4K with a blazing time of 15:16.5 to help the UVU women win the three-team in-state meet with 37 points.
Abby Linford also had a strong race for the Wolverines on Saturday by placing fifth with a time of 15:33.1, while
Miah Weaver Chambers and
Everlyn Kemboi too placed in the top-10 by finishing seventh (15:43.7) and 10th (16:12.0), respectively.
Hope Preston was UVU's fifth top finisher by crossing the finish line in 12th place (16:14.9), followed by
Agnieszka Lubowska in 14th (16.18.9),
Abby Barrus in 15th (16:19.0), and
Alysa Lindley in 17th (16:26.3).

With the 37 points, the UVU women just edged out WAC foe Dixie State by two points (39) to win the in-state meet, while the host Southern Utah T-Birds placed third with 50 points.

The UVU men posted a third-place finish on Saturday in the men's 6K with 73 points.
Max Burton led the way for the Wolverine men by placing 13th with a time of 19:57.4.
Jorge Vazquez and
Logan Anderson also ran well on the day by placing 15th (20:04.2) and 16th (20:07.5), respectively, followed by
Troy Miller in 19th (20:16.4),
Thomas Pickford in 24th (20:21.5),
Cole Havins in 31st (20:50.2), and
Andrew Blackham in 32nd (20:52.6).Â

Dixie State won the men's race with 28 points, while SUU finished second with 33 points.Â

With the FSU Invitational/Pre-Nationals just around the corner, a number of Wolverines sat out Saturday's meet.Â

The FSU Invite/Pre-Nationals will take place Friday, Oct. 15 at Florida State's Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee. Following Pre-Nats, UVU will then take part in the Utah Open in Salt Lake City on Thursday, Oct. 21.Â
