LAS VEGAS – The UVU men's track and field team took second while the women's team took third in windy conditions at the UNLV Winter Challenge in Las Vegas. The Wolverines had 20 top-three finishes, including five athletes taking first in their respective events.
"It was a bit of a rough one with the wind controlling pretty much everything," said Utah Valley head track and field coach 
Scott Houle. "There were a lot of good results, considering the weather. It was a good outdoor meet and good to get out there competing again. Looking forward to get back to work and get ready for our next meets."
 
On the men's side, 
Andre Jones took first in both the 60m hurdles and 400m hurdles as 
Zane Farrer placed second in the same events. Jones and Farrer finished neck and neck in the 60m with times of 8.18 while Jones finished the 400m with a time of 53.93 and Farrer complete the race with a time of 56.16. 
Ian Jackson took second in the 400 meters with a time of 49.67 while Jordan finished in second in the 60 meters (7.12) and third in the 200 meters (22.57).
 
Austin Kleimnmen took fourth and finished with the fourth best distance in UVU history with a distance of 48.98m in the hammer. 
Jeffrey Duvinston took the gold in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.9m while 
Jacob Supinger took second in the 200 meters with a time of 22.46.
 
On the women's side, 
Ally Keil won the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.35m, while 
Berkley Berrett took third with a height of 3.05. The Wolverines completed the 1-2-3 finish in the discus with 
Maddy Beyeler taking first (38.97m), Savanna Reilly-Routsong finished second (42.86), and 
Jaimee Paletta took third (37.21).
 
The Wolverines return to BYU for the final leg of the BYU Cougar III Indoor Invitational on Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 18-20, down in Provo, Utah. UVU continues its outdoor season in Las Vegas with the second UNLV meet on March 6, and cross country team heads to UNLV on Feb. 19 for the Battle Born Collegiate Cross Country Challenge.
