OREM, Utah — After playing its first 15 games to open the season away from home, Utah Valley University is set to open its 2021 home schedule with doubleheaders against a pair of Big Sky Conference foes. The Wolverines (6-9) will host Idaho State on Sunday at starting a 2 p.m. MT and in-state rival Weber State on Tuesday at 1 p.m. MT.
UVU split a Tuesday doubleheader at UC Santa Barbara before Wednesday's scheduled twin bill at UC Riverside was canceled due to rain. The Wolverines fell 7-3 to the Gauchos before an 11-1 win in five innings as the bats came alive to the tune of 13 hits.
Linnah Rebolledo went 3-for-4 and with five runs batted in, including three on a bases loaded triple during a five-run fourth inning.
Siena Sandoval went 3-for-3 while
Madison Carr and
Jade Miller collected two hits apiece. Carr and
Basia Query — who had two RBIs — both scored three times for the Wolverines.
Devyn Cretz tossed a complete game for the Wolverines, striking out three without allowing a walk to earn the win.
Query is hitting .447 with three home runs and 15 RBIs on the season to lead Utah Valley.
Linnah Rebolledo is right behind her at .422 and tied for the team lead with 15 batted in.
Siena Sandoval is batting .317 and tied for the team lead with three home runs.
ON DECK
The Wolverines is scheduled to travel to Montana for a three-game series next weekend. The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday starting at 1 p.m. MT before a noon first pitch in Saturday's finale.
