GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Bailey Henley and
Victoria Estrada both sit in the top 20 on the individual leaderboard while the Utah Valley University women's golf team finds itself in seventh place in the team standings after 18 holes of play at the Bobcat Desert Classic on Monday at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Arizona.

The junior Henley and second-year freshman Estrada are tied for 19th place after each carded 2-over-par 74s during the tournament's first round of play on Monday. Henley posted four birdies and eight pars on the day en route to carding the 74 while Estrada picked up a trio of birdies and 11 pars on Monday.

Anna Lesa and
Caylyn Ponich were next for UVU on the day after each recorded 4-over-par 76s to sit in a tie for 37th place. Fellow freshman
Macy Robertson rounds out UVU's competitors at the event, as she'll enter Tuesday's final round in a tie for 43rd place with a 5-over-par 77.Â

As a team, UVU carded a solid 12-over-par 300 on Monday to sit in seventh place out of 11 teams. By being in seventh, the Wolverines will enter Tuesday ahead of Montana, Eastern Washington, in-state foe Dixie State and the host Montana State Bobcats.Â

Gonzaga and WAC foe California Baptist are tied for first at the two-round, two-day event at 1-under-par (287). Fellow WAC opponent Seattle U is next at 2-over-par (290), while in-state rival Weber State is in fourth (296), and Northern Colorado and Idaho State are tied for fifth at just one stroke ahead of UVU (299).   Â

The tournament will conclude on Tuesday with the final round beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. MT/7:30 a.m. PT. The 2021 WAC Championship will then follow next week at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.Â
