Former Utah Valley University women's basketball player Alexis Cortez has signed to play professionally for Colomiers Basket in France. Cortez played at UVU from 2017-20.  
 
"I am so grateful for this opportunity of being able to play overseas in France, Europe," she said. "This definitely is a true blessing. The moment I picked up a basketball, I knew I wanted to play professionally. As a kid, I took my basketball everywhere and now it's taking me places. Having the opportunity to play and start my career in France is a dream come true. I am so excited to get there and embrace it all."
 
Cortez had career averages of 8.2 points and 4.2 rebounds during her time at Utah Valley after transferring from East Carolina. She had career highs in 2018-19 with averages of 10.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. She set her career high of 22 points on March 13, 2019 at the WAC Tournament in Las Vegas against Kansas City.
