OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University softball will wrap up the 2021 home schedule and WAC regular season with three games this week against Tarleton. The series begins Friday morning at 10 a.m. MT with a Saturday doubleheader also slated for a 10 a.m. MT first pitch. All three games can be seen on the WAC Digital Network.
Friday's early start is due to UVU graduation fireworks installation and setup, which will also alter the parking availability and the walking route to the field. Click HERE for a map with directions on where to park and go to get to the game. Ushers will help fans along the route.
The Wolverines (20-26, 5-10) will be either the No. 3 or No. 4 seed in next week's WAC Tournament in Seattle, which begins on Thursday, May 13. UVU would need to sweep Tarleton and have Seattle U sweep Grand Canyon in order to move to the third seed.
The series marks the final homestand for seven seniors, including "super" seniors Devyn Cretz, Kaycie Jensen, and Basia Query. In addition to those three, Jordan Adams, Jade Miller, Rien Milliken, and Siena Sandoval will all be honored following the final game of the series on Saturday afternoon.
Friday's game will mark the 200th of Query's career, which ranks fourth all-time. She also enters the weekend with 197 career hits, four shy of tying the school record. Cretz has 29 career wins in the circle, third all-time, and also has recorded six shutouts, one shy of the school record. Milliken's .357 batting average over two seasons is currently No. 7 on the all-time career average list.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Tarleton is wrapping up its first season at the Division I level with this weekend's games. The Texans are 17-33 overall and 5-9 in WAC play and split a weather-shortened, two-game series last week against Grand Canyon.
