ST. GEORGE, Utah — Evans Armah scored a pair of second-half goals as Utah Valley University came from behind to defeat Dixie State University, 2-1, on Saturday at Greater Zion Stadium. Armah's brace, his first as a Wolverine, came on the opening day of WAC play and in the inaugural Old Hammer Rivalry match between the in-state foes.  
 
The Wolverines (4-1-2, 1-0-0) trailed 1-0 at the half after a goal in the 32nd minute by Daniel Brubaker gave the Trailblazers (1-7-0, 0-1-0) the lead. Utah Valley looked to have the initial equalizer when Erik Lyons connected with Armah, but Armah was deemed offside, negating the would-be goal early on in the second half.
 
UVU did get the needed equalizer in the 72nd minute. Diego Castillo fired from distance, and the ball ricocheted off the post to Armah, who volleyed it in with his left foot. The game-winner came with less than 10 minutes to go, in the 81st minute. Mark Brown lofted a pass to Castillo, who directed to Armah, and he scored with his right foot from nine yards out.
 
Armah now has three goals on the season, while Castillo had assists on both goals and has four on the year. Utah Valley finished with an 18-3 advantage in overall shots, including a 12-2 difference on goal. Nine cards were shown in the game with six of those coming against Dixie State.
 
The Wolverines will travel to Texas next week as conference play continues at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (Oct. 1) and Incarnate Word (Oct. 3).
