OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University's cross country teams will compete on Thursday at the Utah Open, which will be held at Sunnyside Park in Salt Lake City.
The Wolverine women are ranked No. 24 in this week's USTFCCCA National Poll, which was released on Tuesday. The held at No. 7 in the Mountain Region poll while the men are now 13th in the same poll.
Thursday will be a 5k for the women, which will start at 1 p.m., with the men's 6k scheduled for 1:45 p.m. Host Utah, Utah State, and Salt Lake Community College will also have runners competing with a handful on unattached individuals also part of the limited field.
Among the Wolverines slated to compete include
Abby Linford and
Andrew Blackham, who were fifth and seventh, respectively, in their races at the SUU Color Country Invite on Oct. 8. Both teams will consist mostly of the younger runners on the Utah Valley roster.
Following Thursday will be the 2022 WAC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29 in Nacogdoches, Texas. The Wolverine women are the reigning champions while the men were second a season ago. The pre-championship polls will be released next week leading up to the meet.
