Stainbrook's brace leads Utah Valley to 4-1 win at Abilene Christian

ABILENE, Texas—Heather Stainbrook recorded a brace while Faith Webber and Hannah Lee each scored a goal to lead Utah Valley to a 4-1 road win over Abilene Christian on Friday night at Elmer Gray Stadium.

Utah Valley improves to 10-3-3 overall and 6-1-1 in WAC play. ACU falls to 4-7-4 overall and 0-5-3 in league play.

"It was a well-deserved and very important road result that's we're obviously happy with," said Utah Valley head coach Chris Lemay. "I thought the overall performance was solid. We scored some good goals. It stings to concede a goal and not get the shutout but at the end of the day, we're happy with the three points. We'll now recover and get back at it on Sunday."

Faith Webber gave the Wolverines and early lead in the 10th minute after Hanna Lee dribbled past an ACU defender and sent the ball to Webber at the top of the box. Webber then fired a shot from the top of the box over the Wildcat defender and into the back of the net to give UVU a 1-0 lead.

Lee extended the UVU lead in the 25th minute after she received a pass from Nicole Olanda and then fired off a shot from 25 yards out that sailed up and over the ACU keeper and into the net to give the Wolverines a 2-0 advantage.

Abilene Christian's Caylen Wright scored in the 48th minute to cut the UVU lead to a 2-1 advantage.

The Wolverines answered right back with a goal just four minutes later as Heather Stainbrook sent a free kick from 25 yards out and into the goal to extend the UVU lead to 3-1 in the 52nd minute.

Olanda sent an impressive pass near midfield into the box where Stainbrook that took one bounce and ended up on the foot of Stainbrook who then sent the ball into the net to secure the Wolverines a 4-1 win.

Utah Valley outshot ACU 21-12, including a 9-5 advantage on frame. The Wolverines had 11 corner kicks to ACU's three. Stainbrook led UVU with a match-high seven shots with three shots on goal. Webber had five shots with two on frame, while Lee and Pyper Vance each had three shots.

Leah Wolf picked up the win in the box for the Wolverines, playing 82 minutes with four saves.

Utah Valley continues road play on Sunday at Tarleton. Kickoff is set for noon (MT). The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
