Utah Valley defeats Green Bay at Jamaica Classic, 79-56

MONTEGO BAY, JamaicaJustin Harmon scored a game-high 18 points and Aziz Bandaogo had a 13-point, 14-rebound double-double to lead Utah Valley to a 79-56 win over Green Bay at the Jamaica Classic in Montego Bay, Jamaica. 
 
Utah Valley (3-3) finishes Jamaica Classic play with a 1-1 record and now travels home to prepare for a fourth straight game on the road at Boise State on Saturday, Nov. 26. 
 
"The experience here in Jamaica was fantastic," said Utah Valley head coach Mark Madsen. "It's a beautiful country, a very welcoming people, and it was an unbelievable experience for our team. I was really proud of our guys tonight. We've been in two dogfight overtime games against really good teams and to come out tonight and have a really good performance like this was really important for our team and our guys."
 
The two teams played to an 11-11 tie through the first seven minutes of the game. Tahj Small then knocked down a pair of free throws that started a 19-4 UVU run over the next nine minutes culminating in a Harmon three that gave Utah Valley a 15-point, 30-15, lead with 3:58 remaining in the half. Green Bay scored eight of the final 11 points over the final three minutes, but UVU held on to a 33-23 lead at the break.
 
Woodbury hit a jumper to open the second half as the Wolverines went on a 12-2 run over the first 6:20 of the second half to extend their lead to 20 points, 45-25, with 14:37 to play. The two teams then played even the rest of the way as the Wolverines held on to their lead to wrap up Jamaica Classic play with a 79-56 win.
 
Harmon scored his game-high 18 points on a 7 of 11 clip from the field, including a 2 of 4 mark from long range. He also knocked down 2 of 3 shots at the charity stripe. Harmon also had three rebounds, three steals, and two assists. 
 
Woodbury knocked down 6 of 11 shots from the floor, including a 4 of 5 mark from beyond the arc for his 16 points. He also tallied seven rebounds with one steal in his 26 minutes of play.
 
Tahj Small scored a season-high 14 points, while Bandaogo and Cam Alford had 13 points apiece. Small was 3 of 6 from the field with a pair of threes. He was a perfect 6 of 6 from the free throw line. Bandaogo hit 6 of 7 shots from the floor, while Alford knocked down 4 of 6 shots. 
 
Utah Valley shot 50 percent (27-54) from the field with a 38.1 percent (8-21) mark from long range. The Wolverines held Green Bay to a 40.4 percent (23-57) clip from the field and a 25 percent mark (5-20) from three.
 
The Wolverines outrebounded Green Bay 40-27 and outscored the Phoenix in the paint, 34-26.
 
Utah Valley now returns to Orem to spend Thanksgiving before traveling to play Boise State on Saturday at ExtraMile Arena. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. (MT)
