Wolverines travel to Fresno State for Saturday contest

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University will travel to Fresno State this week for a Saturday afternoon match up beginning at 1 p.m. PT/2 p.m. MT from the Save Mart Center. The game will air on the Mountain West Network.

The Wolverines (2-7) are coming off a 76-72 win over Northwest Nazarene last Saturday in Orem with four players scoring in double figures. Eleyana Tafisi matched her career high for the second straight game with 15 points while Saige Gibb set a new career best by also scoring 15. Jaeden Brown finished with 17 to lead the way while Shay Fano added 14. Tafisi also had six steals and five assists and Ally Criddle set a new career high with six assists. Brown leads the team so far this season with 11.9 points per game.

UP NEXT
Following Saturday's game, the Wolverines return home to host Idaho in the final non-conference game — and the final game prior to a short Christmas break. That game is slated for Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. MT. Utah Valley will then return to action following the break with the WAC opener on Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. against Grand Canyon in the UCCU Center.

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Fresno State and Utah Valley are meeting for the second straight season in 2022-23. The Bulldogs, who own a 2-1 all-time series lead, defeated the Wolverines in Orem last season, 71-62. Fresno State is coached by former Utah Valley player Jaime White, who played during the program's junior college era and finished in Orem in 1989 before finishing her career at Southern Utah. White was an All-American during her time at then-Utah Valley Community College for head coach Tom Perkins.

The Bulldogs are 6-5 so far this season and have won two straight with victories over Northern Arizona and UC Irvine. Three players average in double figures led by Yanina Todorova's 12.5 points per game.
