Softball announces two additions to 2023 recruiting class

OREM — Utah Valley University head softball coach Cody Thomson has announced the signings of Camryn Davis (Peoria, Ariz.) and Ryley Binne (Kelowna, BC) to the 2023 recruiting class.

Davis is a 5-foot-6-inch pitcher who preps at Sunrise Mountain High School in Peoria, Arizona. Davis was named First Team All-Northwest Region and First Team All-District as both a sophomore and junior. She is also the Sunrise Mountain single-season record holder for both batting average and slugging percentage. Davis's club experience includes stints with the Arizona Hotshots and the Oro Valley Suncats.

"Camryn is going to be a great addition to the Wolverine family," said Thomson. "I can't wait to see what she can do in the circle. She has one of the best curveballs I've seen and a great change-up it to go along with it."

Binne is a 5-foot-6-inch middle infielder from Kelowna, British Columbia. Binne will be transferring to Utah Valley after playing her freshman season at Salt Lake Community College in the spring. Binne played her club ball for the Surrey Storm, who she helped lead to the 2022 U19 Women's Canadian Fast Pitch Championship this past summer. Binne was also named Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the Canadian Sports School.

"We're really excited to welcome Ryley to the team," said Thomson. "She adds a ton of speed to our lineup and she'll be a solid option at shortstop for us going forward."

Davis and Binne join six other future Wolverines in the 2023 recruiting class. Thomson previously announced the signings of Trinity Johnston (Brentwood, Calif.), Avery Sapp (Spanish Fork, Utah), Amber Rodriguez (Covina, Calif.), Mikayla Garrison (Brentwood, Calif.), Peyton Hall (Spanish Fork, Utah), and Nadia Villalobos (La Habra, Calif.).
