Joseph Glenn recorded his third top-15 finish of the season as he tied for seventh at the PING Cougar Classic on Saturday to lead Utah Valley to a tie for fifth on the team leaderboard at Riverside Country Club in Provo.
"It was a solid week for the boys," said Utah Valley head coach
Chris Curran. "We faltered a bit down the stretch today but we gained some confidence this week heading into the WAC Championship next week. Joe played nearly flawless golf the last two rounds."
The Wolverines tied for fifth with No. 35 Nevada and No. 48 Boise State with a three-round score of 1-over-par 865 (288-290-287). UVU finished ahead of WAC foe New Mexico State (+7), Pacific (+8), Wyoming (+10), St. Mary's (+13), Dixie State (+23), and Air Force (+62). Host BYU won the team title at 32-under-par 832 (270-289-273).
Glenn shot the fourth-lowest final round score of the tournament on Saturday with a 4-under-par 68. He carded an impressive seven birdies on the day to tie for seventh at 6-under-par 210 (72-70-68) in the 83-player field.
Brady McKinlay tallied his fourth top-15 finish of the season after carding a 1-under-par 71 in the final round to finish tied for 15th with a three-round score of 3-under-par 213 (71-71-71). McKinlay registered five birdies in his final round.
Caden Weber shot a 1-over-par 72 in the final round to finish in a tie for 27th at 1-over-par 217 (74-71-72). Weber carded four birdies with 10 pars in the final round.
Landon Anderson shot a final-round 4-over-par 76 to tie for 60th at 10-over-par 226 (72-78-76).
Kai Iguchi rounded out the scoring with an 8-over-par 80 in the final round to finish in a tie for 73rd with a three-round 15-over-par 231 (73-78-80).
Ethan Efford and
Evan Lawrence played the tournament individually. Efford shot a final-round 4-over-par 76 to finish in a tie for 60th at 10-over-par 226 (69-81-76). Lawrence shot an even par 72 in the final round to tie for 70th at 13-over-par 229 (72-85-72).
Utah Valley now preps for the WAC Championship, April 29-May 1, at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
