POCATELLO, Idaho and STANFORD, Calif. - The Utah Valley men's and women's track and field teams finished up the regular season with a strong showing at the Bengal Invitational and the Payton Jordan Invitational. The Wolverines had 13 athletes set personal bests as UVU now turns its focus to the WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Idaho State Meet
Caleb Furnell took first in the 100m, seeting a personal record with a time of 10.38, good enough for third in school history. Furnell also took second in the 200m dash with a time of 21.12.
Kale Sharp won the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:05.35 converted, climbing to eighth in school history.
Zane Farrer third in the 110m hurdles, finishing with a time of 14.09 to climb to second in UVU history.
Jacob Deming set a personal record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.56 while
Cameron Franklin set a new personal best, 47.44, in the 400m to stay at third all-time at UVU.
Larissa Dabb took gold in the 200m, finishing with a personal best time of 24.41, moving into ninth all-time at UVU. Dabb also won the 400m with a time of 55.17, good enough for fourth in school history.
Maysen Rollo set a personal best in the pole vault, clearing a height 3.76m to move into second all-time in UVU history.
Becky Swanson-Lowder set a personal record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:01.59 to climb to seventh in school history while
Jenna Welch now sits eighth in school history in the 400m after a personal best time of 1:03.19. Miah Weaver (10:58.18),
Zoe Hales (11:00.79), and
Madison White (11:15.87) all set personal records in the 3000m steeplechase.
Payton Jordan Invitational
Everlyn Kemboi took second in the 5000m with a time of 16:06.05, while
Mazzie Melaney set a personal record of 16:08.37 to finish in third.
Hannah Branch finished fourth in the 5000m with a time of 16:10.29 while
Caila Odekirk took fifth with a time of 16:12.37 and
Maggie Zwahlen set a personal record of 16:41.61.
Taylor Viertel set a personal best time in the 1500m, finishing with a time of 4:23.56 to take third.
The Wolverines head to Seattle, Wash. for the WAC Outdoor Championships on Thursday, May 12, through Saturday, May 14. UVU will then await qualifications for the NCAA West Regional Preliminaries on Thurdsday, May 26, through Saturday, May 28, in Fayetteville, Ark.
