OREM—The Utah Valley women's soccer team played 23rd-ranked UCF to a 0-0 tie on Thursday night at Clyde Field, extending its home unbeaten streak to nine games.
"I'm really proud of our effort tonight," said Utah Valley head coach
Chris Lemay. "We put together a solid 90 minutes against a really good team and threw punches with them for 90. I'm thrilled with the shutout and to walk away with a draw, which is a fair result against a top-25 team shows how close we are."
Utah Valley and UCF each had nine shots with the Knights edging out the Wolverines 4-2 on shots on frame.
Faith Webber led Utah Valley with a match-high three shots, including one on goal.
Breanna Eves,
Hannah Lee,
Julianna Carter, and
Tessa Thornton each had one shot. Utah Valley controlled the total possession with 52 percent.
The Wolverine defense picked up its second straight shutout with the 0-0 result.
Idalia Serrano collected a season-best four saves as she picked up her second shutout of the season in the box.
Kristen Scott and Annika Huhta led UCF with two shots apiece.
Utah Valley continues play at home on Thursday, Sept. 1 against CSUN. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
