UVU Wrestling announces 2022-2023 Schedule

OREM, Utah – Utah Valley wrestling coach Greg Williams has announced the 2022-2023 schedule. The Wolverines will host four Big 12 duals this year, with Air Force, Iowa State, Northern Colorado, and Northern Iowa visiting Orem.

"We are excited about this year's schedule. Our wrestlers will have many opportunities to wrestle ranked opponents throughout the season. Our goal is to get our first national champion and several All-Americans with the guys in our room. We have wrestlers in our room that can achieve this level of success this season if they stay focused and healthy. We look forward to the competition and the opportunity for them to grow throughout this season and put themselves in position to reach their goals at nationals," said UVU head coach Greg Williams.

Utah Valley will spend the first seven weeks of competition away from Orem, with trips to Michigan State for the MSU open and Laramie for the Cowboy Open. The Wolverines head to California for a dual with California Baptist and the Roadrunner Open to end November.

In December, UVU will wrestle in Nevada twice for the Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas on Dec. 2-3 and The Reno Tournament of Champions on Dec. 18. A trip back east will close out the 2022 calendar year as UVU will be at the Purdue Duals against Campbell, Drexel, and host Purdue.

The Wolverines will compete at the Snow Open on Jan. 7. UVU opens Big 12 play by hosting Northern Iowa (Jan. 13) and Iowa State (Jan.14). UVU goes on the road for the second set of Big 12 duals in the Dakotas against South Dakota State on Jan. 20 and North Dakota State on Jan. 22. To close out the January UVU will host Snow College and Big 12 foe Air Force on Jan. 27.

The final two Big 12 duals are in early February, with a trip to Wyoming on Feb. 4 and a visit from Northern Colorado on Feb. 10. The Big 12 (Mar. 4-5) and NCAA Championships (Mar.16-18) are both being held this year at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Wolverines bring back veterans Demetrius Romero, a two-time Big 12 champion and 2021 All-American at 174. Haiden Drury (133) and Evan Bockman (197), both 2021 NCAA qualifiers, will look to make deep runs in the Big 12 and NCAA tournaments.
