UTAH VALLEY HOSTS CALIFORNIA BAPTIST, TRAVELS TO GRAND CANYON
Utah Valley returns to conference play this week as the team hosts California Baptist on Friday before traveling to Phoenix to play Grand Canyon on Sunday night. Kickoff for Friday's game at Clyde Field against the Lancers is set for 7 p.m., while Sunday's match at GCU will begin at 8 p.m. MT
The Wolverines head into this week's matches after dropping a 2-1 decision at No. 24 Portland on Saturday night in the City of Roses. Despite outshooting Portland 19-10 and forcing the Pilots into eight saves, the Wolverines fell just short in the 2-1 loss at No. 24 Portland. After falling behind 1-0 in just the eighth minute, Utah Valley's Faith Webber sent a pass into the box to Julianna Carter who was then fouled from behind and UVU was awarded a penalty kick in the 53rd minute and Sydney Bushman fired the penalty kick into the back of the net for UVU's lone goal of the match.Â
Utah Valley has scored 20 goals this season with Stainbrook leading the team with five goals. Carter is second on the team with four goals, followed by Nicole Ray and Sydney Bushman with three. Faith Webber, Isabella Steward each have two goals and Hannah Lee has one goal. The Wolverines have an impressive 20 assists coming from 12 different players. Webber leads the Wolverines in assists (5), shots (36), and shots on goal (16). Idalia Serrano has led UVU in the box with a 1.19 goals against average. She also has a team-high 27 saves with two solo shutouts and one combined clean sheet.
