OREM, Utah — Utah Valley heads to Texas for a two-game road trip that takes them through league favorite Stephen F. Austin on Thursday and at Sam Houston on Saturday. Thursday's game at SFA starts a stretch of four out of five games on the road. Both games will air live on ESPN+.
The Wolverines (4-13, 1-5) dropped two games last week, falling just shy of knocking off league standings leader Southern Utah on the road, 70-66, before falling to Abilene Christian on Saturday, 71-50.
Kaylee Byon had the best scoring week of her young career, averaging 15.5 points including a career-high 19 at SUU. On Saturday, Eleyana Tafisi led UVU with 14 points and Shay Fano addded 13 points and nine rebounds and Byon added 12.

Next week, the Wolverines will play just once when Seattle U comes to Orem on Thursday, Jan. 26. The following week the Wolverines will head back to the Lone Star State for games at Abilene Christian (Feb. 2) and Tarleton (Feb. 4).
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Stephen F. Austin is 14-3 overall and 5-1 in the WAC and has won nine of 10 overall. The Ladyjacks are in first place in the latest WAC resume seeding standings, which will determine the seedings for the WAC Tournament in March. SFA has won the only two prior meetings with both coming last season. Thursday will mark UVU's first trip to Nacogdoches. Aiyana Johnson leads the team in scoring, at 12.9 per game while freshman Jordan Harrison is averaging 11.5 points and a WAC-best 4.8 assists per game.
Sam Houston is 6-9 overall and 2-3 in the WAC and will play at Tarleton on Thursday evening. The Bearkats defeated the Wolverines last season in Hunstville, 69-66, in the only prior meeting between the programs. Chyna Allen's 13.9 points leads the team while Madelyn Batista is averaging 10.3 points and a team-high 7.4 rebounds.
