OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University will compete at the Weber State Indoor Invitational this week, which runs Friday and Saturday in Ogden. Admission to the event will be $5 and events will be live-streamed on Weber State's track & field Instagram (@weberstatetrack).
On Friday, Jan. 20, the weight throw and shot put will be held at Marquardt Fieldhouse beginning at 3 p.m. MT. The jumps will also begin at 3 p.m. with the women's pole vault and take place in Stromberg Arena.
The track events will take place starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday in Stromberg Arena. Also on the schedule are 55-meter hurdle and 55-meter trials and finals, the mile, 200m, 400m, 800m, 3,000m, and the 4x400 relay.
The Wolverines are expected to have around 70 student-athletes compete this week, including
Neal Berkey, who was last week's winner in the heptathlon at BYU. Berkey's total was good enough for second in UVU's all-time indoor record book and also ranks fifth in the country this season.
Joining Berkey ranked in the top 50 so far this season are:
Habtamu Cheney, who is number 28 in the 3,000;
Aiden Garnett, ranked 21st in the high jump; Joseph Trageser, No. 36 in the heptathlon;
Everlyn Kemboi, ranked 23rd in the 3,000; and
Madison Clark, who is No. 32 in the pentathlon.
After this week's competition, the Wolverines are slated to compete in the Stacy Dragila Invitational on Jan. 27-28 at Idaho State University.
