OGDEN, Utah — Utah Valley University track & field had a strong showing with a bevy of Wolverines entering the top 10 in the program record books after this weekend's action at the Weber State Invitational.
In Friday's action in the throws,
Joshua Clark set a new personal record in the shot put with a throw of 16.20 meters.
Luis Diaz Bojorquez took second (15.79m) while
Sterling Hatch finished fourth (13.29m) and
Nick Clements was sixth (13.26m). Clark was also second in the weight throw with
Austin Kleinman in fourth and Diaz Bojorquez in sixth.
Noah Peterson and
Neal Berkey both hit 4.85 meters in the pole vault to take the top spot in that event. That mark matched a personal best for Berkey and put Peterson alongside Berkey with the No. 4 mark in program history. On the women's side,
Grace Williams won the pole vault with a top height of 3.35 meters.
Seth Krauss finished atop the high jump, hitting 2.06 meters, with
Jeffrey Duvinston (third, 1.96m) and
Carter Cook (fourth, 1.91m) just behind him.
Kelsi Oldroyd hit 5.48 meters in the long jump and finished third. That mark moved her into ninth place in the school record book.
Olivia Pixton moved into fourth all-time in program history after landing 11.17 meters on the triple jump, winning the event on Friday.
Sydney Dennis finished second with a jump of 10.43 meters.
Isaac Manning was UVU's top finisher in the long jump, taking second with a jump of 6.36 meters.
Jordan Daw took fourth with a jump of 6.06 meters.
Saturday's track events included three new top five times in the women's 55-meter hurdles with
Quincy Bonds finishing in 8.17 seconds, which is third all-time.
Paige Young established the fourth and fifth best times in the school records, finishing in 8.19 and 8.34 seconds, respectively. Geramie Hardaway also had the No. 5 time in the program's top 10 in the 55m hurdles, running it in 7.72 seconds.
In the 55-meter race,
Aaron Johnson — who took this week off from the long jump — ran the second-best time in the record book, finishing in 6.29 seconds with
Caleb Furnell's 6.39 seconds now fifth while
Mikhail Carvalho moved into seventh with a time of 6.44 seconds. For the women, Bonds also moved in the No. 6 spot in the 55-meter race, with time of 7.18 seconds, and Kritsa Farley was just behind her for the seventh-best time, at 7.21 seconds.
