Wolverines host Seattle U on Thursday

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University returns home to the UCCU Center on Thursday to host Seattle U with tip set for 6 p.m. MT. Thursday's game marks the halfway point of the WAC regular season. The Wolverines (4-15, 1-7) will play five of the final nine games away from home after the contest against the Redhawks.

UVU is led in scoring and rebounding by Jaeden Brown, who is averaging 14.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. Brown has been sidelined since early January due to injury and has missed the last five contests. In her absence, Kaylee Byon has seen her scoring average over during that time nearly double—from 3.6 to 6.7 per game. Byon is averaging 14.2 points per game since Brown has been out and over the last four games is scoring 15.8 per and has reached double figures in each contest, including a career-high 19 at Southern Utah on Jan. 11.

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Seattle U is 1-16 overall and 1-6 in the WAC. The Redhawks last won on Dec. 31 against UT Rio Grande Valley and have dropped five straight since. UVU and Seattle U are currently tied with Tarleton and UTRGV for the fewest wins in WAC play. The top 12 (out of 13) teams qualify for the WAC Tournament in March, making Thursday's match up a pivotal contest for both teams.

Peyton Howard leads the team at 10.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. The Redhawks are 12-11 all-time against Utah Valley, with the Wolverines entering Thursday's game on a four-game winning streak in the series between the teams.

UP NEXT
Utah Valley will head back to the Lone Star State next week for two games where they'll face Abilene Christian next Thursday before a Saturday contest at Tarleton. The game in Abilene is a rematch of the Jan. 14 game in Orem while the contest at Tarleton the lone matchup between the teams during the WAC regular season.
