POCATELLO, Idaho — Utah Valley University saw school records fall this weekend at the Stacy Dragila Invitational at campus of Idaho State University.
Quincy Bonds set a school record in the 60-meter hurdles,
Everlyn Kemboi set a school record—and a Holt Arena record—in the 3,000, and
Kelsi Oldroyd also tied the school record in the long jump.
Utah Valley swept the top three spots in the women's 3,000 with Kemboi's record coming in an adjusted time of 9:12.57.
Mazzie Melaney Preston was second and is now No. 2 in program history with a time of 9:29.59, and
Madison Flippence (9:41.81) took third with the No. 4 time in the record book. Freshman
Ari Trimble was sixth overall after finishing in 9:51.17, good enough for No. 7 all-time.
Bonds continued her early-season success, winning the 60-meter hurdles with a school-record time of 8.60 seconds.
Paige Young (4th, 8.81) and
Emma Aldred (6th, 8.88) also both qualified for the finals. Bonds also won the 60-meter race, finishing in 7.68 while
Krista Farley (7.75s) and
Emma Newbold (7.80) were third and fourth, respectively.
Oldroyd won the long jump and tied the school record with her best jump of 5.67 meters.
Paige Young (5.38m) was third and
Krista Farley (5.36m) took fourth.
The Wolverines took the top four spots in the men's 5,000 with
Habtamu Cheney winning the event with a personal record of 14:03.42, which also is now second in the school indoor record book.
Max Mahon (14:26.71),
Joel Mendez (14:35.20) and
Kale Sharp (14:44.42) finished second through fourth.
Larissa Dabb and
Ella Hopper finished 1-2 in the 400, with Dabb—already the school indoor record holder—finishing in 57.33 seconds while Hopper ran it in 57.81 seconds. Becky Lowder was fifth with a time of 1:01.25.
Cameron Franklin and
Seth Dabb also took the top two spots in the men's 400. Franklin ran it in 49.96 while Dabb (the current school record holder) ran it in 49.98 seconds.
Aaron Johnson took the gold in the long jump for the third time in three competitions to begin the indoor season. Johnson landed 7.64 meters on his first jump of the day, which held as the top mark of the weekend.
The quartet of
Ella Hopper, McCuen,
Amy Ballard and Dabb took first in the women's 4x400 while the men also took first with Furnell, Deming, Franklin, and Dabb bringing home the gold.
In the 200, the Wolverine men took spots two through five, led by Johnson's 21.76 seconds. Thomson was third (21.96), followed by
Caleb Furnell (22.10) and
Jacob Deming (22.11). Kali McCuen led UVU in the women's 200, taking second with a time of 25.28 seconds.
Emma Newbold (25.50) took fourth and
Amy Ballard (25.57) tied for fifth.
In the men's 60mH, Geramie Hardaway was third with a time of 8.32 seconds while
Kade Thompson took second in the 60-meter, running it in 6.84 seconds.
Austin Hone and
Adrian Jones finished second and third in the men's mile and were the top two current collegiate runners to finish. Hone ran it in 4:11.70 while Jones was right behind him, coming in in 4:13.28.
Aiden Garnett and
Seth Krauss finished second and third in the high jump. Garnett cleared 2.10 meters while Krauss hit 2.07 meters. Aubrey Trasker was the top finisher in the women's high jump, tying for second with a jump of 1.58 meters.
The men's pole vault was highlighted by a second-place finish from
Porter Westerlind (4.95m), who finished second with the No. 4 all-time indoor mark.
Leading the Wolverines in the throws were:
Sarah Carillo, who took fifth in the women's shotput (12.51m) while
Luis Diaz Bojorquez (16.08m) took third in the men's event; Carillo also took seventh (14.95m) in the weight throw; and
Austin Kleinman led the men at 15.38 meters.
