Wolverines head to Utah Tech and Southern Utah

OREM, Utah – Utah Valley women's volleyball travels this week to a pair of matches this week. UVU will renew the Old Hammer Rivalry on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 5:00 p.m. MT from Burns Arena and will play at Southern Utah on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 1:00 p.m. MT from the America First Center.
 
The Wolverines are coming off their first sweep of the season on Monday night behind 11 kills from Tori Ellis as she passed Kalani Norris for 11th all-time in kills. She enters the week with 826 kills and is now tenth all-time. UVU held many statistical advantages in the match, including an 11-0 block percentage and a 43-18 advantage in assists.
 
UVU had 5-1 advantage in service aces, including three for Molly Cummard and two from Hailey Cuff. The Wolverines benefited from double-doubles by Abbie Medeiros and Avery Shewell in the victory.
 
SCOUTING UTAH TECH
The Trailblazers are 6-10 and 2-4 in the WAC. They split last weekend, winning at Tarleton in five sets before falling to Abilene Christian. They are led by Kennedi Knudsen, who has tallied 198 kills on the year and 3.09 kills/set. Setter Taela Laufiso has 460 assists on the year and runs the offense for Utah Tech. Utah Valley has won seven straight in the series.
 
SCOUTING SOUTHERN UTAH
The Thunderbirds enter 5-11 and 1-5 in WAC play. They lost to ACU before beating Tarleton State. Three SUU has three players that have over 100 kills on the year. Andrea Spasojevic averages 3.01 points/set, and Hana Makonova has 43 blocks this season. 
 
TRAVELING WOLVERINES
The Wolverines will get comfortable traveling over the next three weeks as they will hit the road for three of the next four weeks. The stretch starts with Utah Tech and Southern Utah before heading to Grand Canyon and California Baptist. They will get a one-week break from traveling before going to UT Arlington and Stephen F.
