Nielson announces signing of Texas product Kennedy Carlyle

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University women's basketball coach Dan Nielson has announced the signing of Kennedy Carlyle. A 6-foot-2-inch native of Austin, Texas, Carlyle is entering her senior season at Cedar Park High School in Cedar Park, Texas.

"We are so excited to add Kennedy to our program," Nielson said. "She comes from a highly successful high school program in Texas and has a very versatile inside-out offensive game. Her propensity for blocking shots will be a huge asset on the defensive end. We can't wait to get her on campus next year!"

As a junior a season ago, Carlyle was named to the University Interscholastic League (UIL) 5A All-District first team despite missing half of the season due to injury. She also appeared in the TGCA All-Star game after leading the team in blocks and rebounds.

She spent her first two years of high school at Hyde Park High School in Austin, Texas, where she was a two-time Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) 5A All-District selection.

As a sophomore, she was first-team All-District, second-team All-State, first-team All-Central Texas, All-Region, and is a three-time Academic All-District and an Academic All-State honoree. Carlyle's sophomore campaign also included 108 blocks on the season for an average of over four blocks per game, among the top five marks in the state. She also recorded a triple-double with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 blocks in one game, while also scoring 36 points twice during the season.
