On Saturday, UVU Women's Volleyball athletic trainer Ashlee Taylor was honored with the Utah Athletic Trainers' Association College Athletic Trainer of the year award.
Each year, this award is presented to an athletic trainer in Utah who has made contributions to the field and distinguished themselves through service, skills, and knowledge in athletic training.
Ashlee has worked at UVU since 2015, serving as the Insurance Coordinator, women's basketball athletic trainer, as well as her current position with the women's volleyball team. She also oversees all ordering and inventory for the UVU Sports Medicine department.
Andrew Nelson, head athletic trainer at UVU, had this to say about her, "Ashlee is a valuable member of our team and is highly deserving of this award. She brings high quality skills and knowledge that benefit the student athletes that she works with as well as raising the bar for the rest of the staff."
While going above and beyond to provide healthcare to the athletes on her team, Ashlee has a dynamic presence that radiates a positive energy and attitude. She incorporates current techniques in sports medicine and finds ways to provide the best available options for her athletes.
Also on Saturday, the Utah Athletic Trainers' Association recognized Andrew Nelson for serving as the Student Committee Chair from 2021 to 2023. Andrew continues to serve on the Student Committee, helping provide a place for the next generation of athletic trainers to grow and develop.
