WBB heads to Pocatello for Wednesday contest against Bengals

OPENING TIP
Utah Valley University will play its third and final game against Big Sky Conference schools when the Wolverines travel to Pocatello to take on Idaho State on Wednesday night. Tip is set for 7 p.m. MT from Reed Gym and can be seen live on ESPN+. 

Kaylee Byon leads the Wolverines (3-4, 0-2) with an average of 9.6 points per game while Kylee Mabry is averaging 8.0 points after two double-digit scoring outputs last week. Mabry is also averaging 3.0 steals, which ranks third in the WAC and 24th nationally. She has 21 steals on the season, which ranks second in the WAC. Tessa Chaney leads UVU with 5.7 rebounds per contest. 

LAST TIME OUT
Utah Valley played a pair of early WAC games last week, dropping a 58-48 game at Seattle U before coming up short, 73-59, against Utah Tech at home. Mabry had a big week offensively. She set a career high with 17 points against Utah Tech and averaged 14.5 points in the two games last week.

WHERE THEY RANK

UVU leads the WAC and ranks 12th in the country in turnover margin, 16th in turnovers forced per game, and is 17th in steals per game (12.4). The Wolverines are +7.6 in turnovers so far this while forcing just shy of 23 opponent giveaways per game. UVU also leads the WAC in bench points and bench points per game (31.1). 

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION

Idaho State is also 3-4 on the season and is returning home after four games on the road including three at the Rainbow Wahine Showdown at Hawai'i. The Bengals went 1-2 at the tournament, falling to Washington and host Hawai'i before defeating Air Force. They've been off since the game against the Falcons on Nov. 26. 

Maria Dias leads the team in scoring at 10.6 per game while Laura Bello is averaging 9.3 points and 7.9 rebounds. Kacey Spink leads ISU with 8.9 boards per contest. The Bengals are +7.0 on the glass against their opponents this year while the Wolverines are -11.7 in rebounding. 

THE All-TIME SERIES

Idaho State leads the all-time series 13-5 including a 7-1 record at home and has won eight straight against Utah Valley. The last UVU win in Pocatello came back on Dec. 2, 2006. The most recent meeting came last season in Orem, a 64-48 ISU win.
