Farley and Rollo set new school records at WSU

SPOKANE, Washington — Krista Farley and Maysen Rollo both set new school records as Utah Valley University wrapped up action at the Washington State Open on Saturday. The meet was held at the Podium in Spokane, the site of the 2023 WAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 24-25.
 
Farley hit 5.71 meters in the long jump to set a new school record while Olivia Pixton moved into second all-time in the same event, with 5.67 meters. Farley finished fifth and Pixton was seventh in the long jump. Rollo bested 3.76 meters in the pole vault to set the indoor record in that event. She was tied for first before winning gold following a jump-off against Rosalie Folger-Vent of Eastern Washington. With those two school records, a total of five have been set so far, this indoor season.
 
Caleb Furnell won the men's 200-meter race with a time of 21.22 seconds while Aaron Johnson was fifth (21.59) and Mikhail Carvalho's time of 21.90 seconds is 10th all-time. On the women's side, Emma Newbold, Quincy Bonds, and Larissa Dabb all hit school top 10 times in the 200. Newbold (24.93) is now No. 6; Bonds is No. 8 (24.97); and Dabb is 10th (25.02).
 
School record holder Aiden Garnett won the high jump, with his best mark of 2.11 meters while Carter Cook hit 2.07 meters and moved into the No. 5 spot in the school's top 10.
 
Both 4x400 teams also recorded the second-best marks in the indoor record book. Ella Hopper, Amy Ballard, Kali McEuen and Dabb won the race with a time of 3:48.32. The men's team of Furnell, Johnson, Jacob Deming and Seth Dabb took third with their time of 3:16.76.
 
Other personal records set in Spokane include Alyssa Logan in the weight throw (15.19m), which puts her at No. 9; in the 60-meter hurdles, Paige Young stayed at fourth all-time but improved her time with an 8.77-second effort in the 60-meter hurdles and Geramie Hardaway hit No. 7 with a time of 8.27 seconds for the men; Krista Farley is now sixth all-time with a 60 time of 7.68 seconds; Ella Hopper is sixth in the 400, after her finish in 56.88 seconds; Pixton hit 11.22 meters in the triple jump to improve on her No. 4 spot in the top 10; Austin Kleinman hit 16.08 meters in the men's weight throw to take the No. 5 spot.
 
A handful of student-athletes also competed at the Utah State Speed and Power Meet on Saturday in Logan. Sarah Carillo took second and moved into No. 8 with a personal record (15.70) in the weight throw while several other Wolverines earned podium finishes. Nick Clements (13.72m) and Sterling Hatch (13.12m) were second and third in the men's weight throw.
 
Jordan Daw took first in the men's 200 with a time of 23.06 while Cassidy Henderson (27.08), Taygin DeHart (27.90) and Sydney Dennis (28.73) went 1-2-3 in the women's 200. Cameron Franking was first in the 400 (50.42) and the men's 4x400 relay team also took first. DeHart hit 10.77 meters in the triple jump, which puts her at 10th all-time while Dennis was third (10.54). Adam Bunker (1:56.89) took second in the men's 800 with Jason Hoffman (1:56.92) in third while Maggie Zwahlen (10:34.30) was second in the women's 3,000.
