OREM—The Utah Valley University men's golf team has released its 2023-24 schedule which includes 11 tournaments in five states around the country.
"This could be the most competitive schedule in school history, playing at some of the best venues in the country," said Utah Valley head coach
Chris Curran. "We couldn't be more excited to get going."
The Wolverines head into the 2023-24 season fresh off the team's best season in program history. UVU won three team championship and five individual titles during its 2022-23 campaign.
The team welcomes back five players from last season's record-breaking team, including
Kai Iguchi,
Ethan Efford,
Andrew Hawk,
Ryan Seamons, and
Braden O'Grady. Newcomers include
Isaiah Ellis,
Zachary Erskine, and
Dane Huddleston.
Utah Valley will open the 2023-24 season at the Colorado State Ram Masters where the team finished third last season. The Ram Masters will take place Sept. 19-20 at Fort Collins Country Club in Colorado. The team then travels to California to play in the Nick Watney Invitational, Sept. 25-26, at Fort Washington Country Club in Fresno.
The Wolverines will travel back to The Centennial State to compete in the Mark Simpson Invitational, Oct. 2-3, at Colorado National Golf Club in Erie. UVU returns to the event after taking fifth last year in the 16-team field.
Utah Valley will participate in the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, Oct. 16-18, at The Reserve at Spanos Park. It will mark the first time that the Wolverines have played in the Pacific Invitational since the 2015-16 season when the team finished sixth.
UVU will wrap up its fall season at the Kapolei Invitational, Oct. 31-Nov. 2, at Kapolei Golf Course on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.
The team will defend its team title at the Loyola Intercollegiate, Feb. 25-27, at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona. The Wolverines won the 2023 title in the 19-team field at the Loyola Intercollegiate with a three-round score of 21-under-par 843 (291-276-276).
Utah Valley returns to compete in the Bandon Dunes Championship, March 10-12, at Bandon Dunes in Bandon, Oregon. The team last competed at the tournament in 2022, finishing in a tie for fifth in the 15-team field.
The Wolverines will then travel to The Grand Canyon State for the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate, March 18-19, at Tucson Country Club.
UVU will then head back to Arizona to compete in the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, April 1-2, at AK Chin Southern Dunes in Maricopa. UVU finished 17th at last year's Cowboy Classic with a three-round 31-over-par 895.
Utah Valley will look to defend its team title at the UC Santa Barbara Collegiate, April 8-9, at Sandpiper Golf Club in Goleta, California. The Wolverines won the tournament last season with a three-round 6-over-par 582 (292-290). Iguchi led UVU at the event with a third place finish.
UVU will conclude the season at the WAC Tournament, April 26-28, at The Golf Club at Chaparral Pines in Payson, Arizona. UVU finished fifth at last year's WAC Championship with a three-round 19-under-par 845.
