Indoor track competing at Cougar Invitational this week

OREM, Utah — The indoor track & field season resumes for Utah Valley University this week with the team set to compete at the BYU Cougar Invitational this Thursday-Saturday in Provo.

The majority of the events will take place in the Smith Fieldhouse while the weight throw and discus will be held in the Indoor Practice Facility, adjacent to the fieldhouse. Live results will be available via the Meettrax app or by clicking HERE.

The Wolverines opened the indoor season at BYU in December with 17 top 10 marks, including Anaya Potter's collegiate debut which featured a new school pentathlon record and a school-record-tying mark in the high jump. Potter was named the WAC Field Athlete of the Week after her performance.

The action begins on Thursday with the women's pentathlon at 11:45 a.m. and the first four events of the men's heptathlon starting at noon. The throws (shot put, weight throw, and discus) will begin at 4 p.m., and the 600-yard and 4x800 relays will also be contested.

On Friday, the jumps will begin at 12:30 p.m., with the women's long jump preceding the high jump, pole vault, and triple jump. The 60-meter hurdles will start at 1 p.m. as the first of the final three events in the heptathlon.

Saturday will be almost exclusively on the track except the pole vault, which begins with the women at 11:30 a.m. A 3000-meter open race will kick off the day at 9:45 a.m. with the 60-meter hurdles and 60m trials, the 400m, and the mile preceding a short break. After the intermission will all be finals, starting with the 60-meter hurdles at 1:50 p.m. The day wraps up with the 4x400 relays, with the women scheduled to run at 4:20 p.m.
