OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University is set to run at the Utah Scenic West Open on Thursday at Sugar House Park in Salt Lake City. The women will run a 5k starting at 1 p.m. MT with the men running a 6k at 1:45 p.m.
Live results will be available via the MeetTrax app or at MeetTrax.com. Among the participating teams will be a small group from Utah's No. 6 women's team and Utah State's 19th-ranked men's squad.
Thursday's races will be the final competition before next week's WAC Championship, which Utah Valley hosts on Friday, Nov. 1 at Lakeside Park. With conference championships all slated for next weekend, starters are expected to rest or use Thursday's meet as a tune-up for next week.
Last week,
Mo Guled continued his dominance of whatever race he's competing in, winning for the fourth time this season. Guled was the men's winner of the "B" race at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals last Saturday, adding that title to the Roy Griak Invitational, UVU Invitational, and Color Country Invitational wins.
The UVU women were led by
Anna Martin at Pre-Nationals last week, with the team finishing 24th in the "A" race that featured 19 of the top 30 teams in the country. Martin was 79th overall while
Julie Sumsion was next for the Wolverines, in 93rd in the 250-runner field.
