Kapolei, O'ahu--Â The Utah Valley men's golf team opened the Kapolei Invitational in second place with a 4-under-par 284 at Kapolei Golf Club. The Wolverines are two strokes behind Texas State on the 15-team leaderboard as they head into the second round on Wednesday.

"We had a solid start today and put ourselves in a good position," said Utah Valley head coach
Chris Curran. "Dane [Huddleston] played a fantastic round, and the guys showed resilience on a challenging course. We're looking forward to carrying this momentum into the next two rounds."

Dane Huddleston led the way for UVU, firing an impressive 5-under-par 67 to end the day tied for second on the 87-player individual leaderboard. Huddleston's round included eight birdies, with five coming on the front nine.

Ryan Seamons also posted a solid start, tying for eighth with a 2-under-par 70. His round featured three birdies, 10 pars, and an eagle on the 526-yard, par-5 17th hole.

Clement Lepine is tied for 32nd after carding a 1-over-par 73, highlighted by an eagle on the 307-yard, par-4 ninth hole.

Paxton Maxwell shot a 2-over-par 74 to sit tied for 42nd, whileÂ
Ethan Efford ended the first round tied for 85th with a 10-over-par 82.
