RENO, Nevada — Utah Valley University cross country is in Reno, Nevada this week for the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships. The races will be held on Friday, Nov. 15 at Washoe Golf Course in Reno, Nevada with the Wolverine men and 30th-ranked women's team competing.
The women will race in a 6K at 11 a.m. PT/noon MT followed by the men's 10K at noon PT/1 p.m. MT. The races will be streamed via the Mountain West Network with live result links available on GoUVU.com.
The Mountain Region is arguably the most competitive regional in the country, with six men's teams and five women's teams among the top 30. The top two finishing teams and first four individuals not on those top two teams earn automatic bids to the NCAA Championships.
Utah Valley's women are seeking their third straight NCAA Championships appearance, which will take place in Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday, Nov. 23. The women are coming off of their best finish at the regional after taking fifth place last year in Lubbock, Texas.
The Wolverines achieved a perfect score while winning their fifth WAC Championship with WAC Women's Athlete of the Year,
Anna Martin, earning the individual title. She was followed by
Ari Trimble,
Caila Odekirk,
Oakley Olson,
Julie Sumsion, and
Allie Warner as UVU took the top six spots while earning back-to-back WAC titles. The win also earned
Scott Houle his 14th WAC Coach of the Year honor and 38th conference Coach of the Year award overall.
On the men's side,
Mo Guled continued his dominance with his fifth win of the season at the WAC Championships. Guled, who earned the USTFCCCA National Runner of the Week after winning the Roy Griak Invitational earlier this season, was also named the WAC Men's Athlete of the Year on Tuesday.
