Utah Valley hosts No. 3 Oklahoma State on Friday inside the UCCU Center

11/14/2024 11:51:00 AM

OREM, Utah – Utah Valley wrestling will host No. 3 Oklahoma State in their 2024-2025 home opener on Friday, Nov. 15 at 7:00 p.m. MT inside the UCCU Center. Doors will open at 5:30, and the first 500 fans through the doors will get a limited edition UVU wrestling t-shirt. This will mark the second time since 2021 that the Cowboys have visited Orem.

The Wolverines are coming off a 32-7 loss to No. 3 Nebraska in Lincoln. No. 6 Terrell Barraclough improved to 6-0 on the year and 3-0 in dual action after an 8-0 major decision over No. 12 Bubba Wilson (Nebraska). It is his second bonus point win this season. Jack Forbes moved into the national rankings this week, coming in at No. 33 after a 5-4 decision over No. 23 Harley Andrews. The win put Forbes in the collegiate rankings for the first time in his career.

BROADCAST INFO
Friday's dual will be broadcast on FloWrestling, and a stream will be available on Youtube.com/GoUVU. UVU alumni Sam Allen and Chasen Tolbert will be on the call for all the action.

SCOUTING OKLAHOMA STATE
Oklahoma State is entering its first dual of the season after having a group participate in the Michigan State Open last week. They are led by first-year head coach David Taylor, who took over for Hall of Fame coach John Smith. Taylor wrestled at Penn State and has won numerous Olympic and world titles for Team USA.

The Cowboys have all ten projected starters ranked nationally, with Air Force transfer Wyatt Hendrickson coming in at No. 2 at Heavyweight. 184-pounder Dustin Plott returns after making the NCAA Championship match a season ago. This will probably be one of the deepest teams on the UVU schedule this season with multiple NCAA qualifiers and All-Americans.
